Democratizing Synthetic Biology for Africa's Future

SynBio4ALL is building a vibrant and inclusive synthetic biology ecosystem by making education, research, and innovation accessible to learners and communities across Africa.

Our Mission & Vision

Awakening Africa's Genius For Now And The Future

Synthetic biology has the power to transform how we grow food, produce medicine, manage waste, and design sustainable industries. Yet, access to training, tools, and opportunities remains unequal globally. SynBio4ALL exists to close this gap.

SynBio4ALL Africa is a youth-led, non-profit, Non- Governmental Organization (NGO), officially registered as the Synthetic Biology Initiative Africa, dedicated to advancing synthetic biology education, research, innovation, and open science across the continent. Founded in late 2022 as a small initiative, it has rapidly expanded, creating impact in over 20 African countries and beyond.

Awakening Africa's Genius: My Journey with SynBio4ALL Africa

When I look back at how SynBio4ALL Africa began, I feel a deep sense of pride and gratitude. This wasn't a journey that started with big funding, connections, or a formal blueprint. It started with a simple, stubborn question that wouldn't leave me alone: How do we awaken the sleeping genius in Africa?

Building the Future with Anticipation: Reflections from the 2025 Geneva Science Diplomacy Week

"The more you know, the more you realise you know less." This profound reflection, shared by one of the speakers during the 2025 Geneva Science Diplomacy Week, lingered with me long after the event concluded. In its simplicity lies a humbling truth: no matter how much expertise or experience one accumulates, the vastness of knowledge and complexity of our world continues to outpace us in different ways.
